Founded by Oluwatosin & Titilope Owoeye in 2022
D'Ophir was born from a lesson we learned early in life: If something is worth doing, it's worth doing well.
Our mother was our first introduction to the art of making thingsโa multi-disciplinarian, highly skilled craftswoman, an accomplished textile weaver who embodies excellence. As her only daughters, we adopted her skills early. By age 11 and 12, we could spin yarn and weave aso-oke textiles from scratch or style hair alongside her in her salon
She believed that if things are worth doing, they must be done well, and she taught us the honor in craftsmanship.
Our love for crafts and making things led us to fashion. In 2009, as college freshmen, we discovered high fashion on film for the first time. We made a plan right there: graduate, learn fashion design, and start our own label.
In 2016, we founded Ophir Textiles. For nearly a decade, we've created fabrics for global fashion brands; textiles that dressed Miss Universe 2020, appeared on stages like the Tony Awards and CMAs, and were featured in publications like Vogue and CNN. Our work has been worn on red carpets and screens worldwide.
The skills we spent years honing, our deep knowledge of textiles, and our experience in the fashion industry naturally led us to start D'Ophir (formerly Unlabeled By Ophir) in 2022. We began as a private label, creating couture pieces for other brands. Soon after, people started asking to experience our work directly, it felt like it was time to step forward.
D'Ophir is us finally fulfilling the promise we made in 2009: creating our own label for women who value craftsmanship, artistry, and intention. If that's you, you're exactly who we made this for.
